Other Resources
Cemetery Maintenance
Indiana Code 23-14 states the Township Trustee is responsible for maintaining the pioneer cemeteries in the township that are abandoned. There are nine abandoned cemeteries total, in Sheridan. The Department of Administration is only responsible for Baker’s Cemetery, Teter Cemetery, Pleasant Ridge Cemetery and Pearson Cemetery. Over the years, Adams Township Trustee had all four of the abandoned cemeteries restored. There are books at the Sheridan Historical Society with information on the cemeteries and headstones, along with before and after pictures of the work that was done.
